Only Becket was funny...

Editorialist Charles Lane of The Washing Post comments on Aliza Shvarts' senior art project at Yale in which she planned to induce repeated miscarriages through a bit of performance art. Lane notes,
"Among her 'conceptual goals,' she wrote in the Yale Daily News, was 'to assert that often, normative understandings of biological function are a mythology imposed on form. It is this mythology that creates the sexist, racist, ableist, nationalist and homophobic perspective, distinguishing what body parts are 'meant' to do from their physical capability.' Shvarts wanted to show that 'it is a myth that ovaries and a uterus are 'meant' to birth a child.'" This is so bizarre it's like an absurdist work. Becket however, was funny.

Hailstones?

Heavy

Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that Our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.
